Alternative Music Festival in Bogota

On Saturday April 21st Bogota will stage the “Festival Estereo Picnic” a music festival which prides itself in being different from other concerts and music venues.

Estereo Picnic will be held at the Zona F park on the outskirts of Bogota. The venue includes not only a concert stage, but also soccer fields, a hippie market, an artificial beach, restaurant stands as well as a couple bars.

The festival lasts from 10am on Saturday to 3am on Sunday and twelve bands will perform.  Ticket holders can enjoy all of the above facilities when they want to take a break from the shows.

‘It´s mostly about the music’ says Estereo Picnic´s webpage. ‘But that is only an excuse. During this Saturday you can play a soccer match, get a tan, see an art contest, get that CD you´ve always wanted to had or enjoy a bonfire at night. It will be an unforgettable party.’ 

Unlike other Bogota concerts or music festivals drinking is allowed at Estereo Picnic.

Bands playing at the festival mix pop and rock with reggae and other tropical rhythms. They include the Mexican Instituto del Sonido, and Colombia´s Palenke Soul Tribe, who fuse electronica with Afro- Colombian rhythms and New York reggae artist Matisyahu, an orthodox Jew who’s spiritually charged songs with an urban vibe have become popular around the world.

Matisyahu will be in Colombia for the first time. Other international bands playing at the festival include 2 Many DJs and The Hall Effect. 

Parking is available outside the Zona F park, but throughout the day, ticket holders will also be able to use special festival buses that will leave from Carrera 15 with Calle 85.  

Entrance to Estereo Picnic costs 130,000 pesos.  The venue is located at Calle 213 number 54-88.
